Capturing My First Overseas Journey in Osaka (카메라에 담은 첫 해외여행, 오사카 이야기)

In 2018, the year I became an adult, I decided to travel to Osaka with my high school friends.
Since it was my first time going abroad, I had been incredibly excited for weeks leading up to the trip.
Watching the sunset from above the clouds felt completely new and special.

성인이 된 2018년 나는 고등학교 친구들과 같이 오사카에 놀러가기로 하였다.
첫 해외여행이라 몇주전 부터 엄청 설레었었다.
구름위에서 해지는 것을 보니 새로웠다.

By the time we arrived in Osaka, it was already evening.
We grabbed a rice bowl near our hotel and then went back to rest.

오사카에 도착하니 저녁이라 숙소근처에서 덮밥을 먹고 호텔에가서 휴식을 취했다.

That was the very first meal I had in Japan.
It was incredibly cheap and delicious—if I remember correctly, it was around 6,000 won.

일본와서 처음으로 먹은 밥이다.

엄청 싸고 맛있었다.

내 기억상으로 6000원정도 했던것같다.

When we got back to the hotel, I noticed something interesting about the toilet:

there was a small sink on top of it.
It seemed like the water from the sink was reused for flushing.
Such a clever and eco-friendly idea!

밥을먹고 숙소에 들어오니 일본 변기는 위에 세면대가 있었다.

세면대 쓴물을 변기물로 한번 더 활용하는것같다.

아이디어가 진짜 좋다.

The next morning, I stepped outside to explore the neighborhood.
Even though Japan is right next to Korea, the houses and buildings felt quite different.
Instead of tall apartment buildings, there were more 3- or 4-story villas.
Those villas seemed to create a uniquely charming atmosphere that felt distinctly Japanese.

일어나 숙소 밖을 구경하였다.

바로 옆나라지만 한국이랑 주택구조가 달랐다.

높은 아파트들 보다 3-4층 빌라가 많았다.

그런 빌라가 일본만의 매력적인 분위기를 만드는 것같았다.

For lunch, we decided to have tendon (tempura rice bowl).
From what I remember, eating out in Japan was cheaper than in Korea.
Most meals cost less than 10,000 won, and even though they were inexpensive, the quality was excellent.

우리는 점심으로 텐동을 먹으러 가기로하였다.

내 기억속 일본은 한국보다 외식물가가 저렴하였다.

그래서 1만원이내로 식사가 가능했었다.

저렴하다 해서 퀄리티가 떨어지진않았다.

At Osaka Airport, we purchased the Osaka Amazing Pass, which gave us free access to several attractions.
So that day, we planned to take a river cruise in Dotonbori, one of Osaka’s most famous tourist spots.
With the pass, we were able to reserve our tickets in advance and ride for free.
While waiting for the cruise, we took a walk nearby.
We spent some peaceful time in a quiet park, gazing at a beautiful building nearby.

우리는 오사카 공항에서 오사카 주유패스를 구매하여서 무료입장가능한 시설이 몇개있었다.

그래서 우리는 오늘 오사카의 대표적인 관광지중 하나인 도톤보리 에서 유람선을 타기로 하였다.

주유패스가있어 미리 예약해놓으면 무료로 탈 수 있었다.

우리는 유람선 시간 기다릴동안 근처 산책을 하였는데 고즈넉한 공원에서 이쁜건물을 바라보면서 시간을 보냈다.

Before we knew it, it was time for our cruise, and we boarded a bright yellow boat.

어느새 우리 유람선 시간이 다되서 노란 유람선에 탑승하였다.

From the river, we saw the glowing Glico sign and the vibrant streets of Dotonbori—it was absolutely stunning.

The Japanese guide on board made the atmosphere lively and fun, adding to the experience.

유람선에서는 바라보는 글리코상, 도톤보리 거리는 빛나고 아름다웠다.

특히 일본 가이드 분이 분위기를 활기차게 해주었다.

Since we had already seen Osaka from the water, we decided to end the day by seeing it from above.
So, we used our Osaka Amazing Pass once again to ride the HEP Five Ferris Wheel, which was free with the pass.

물 위에서 오사카의 야경을 즐겼으니, 하루의 끝은 하늘에서 내려다보는 오사카의 모습으로 장식해보기로 했다.
그래서 우리는 주유패스를 사용하면 무료인 헵파이브 대관람차를 타기로 하였다.

The view of Osaka from the sky was just as beautiful.

하늘에서 내려다본 오사카 또한 아름다웠다.

For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious unagi don (grilled eel rice bowl) that cost only about 5,000 won.
On the way back to the hotel, we passed by a pachinko parlor and watched it curiously, marking the end of our day in Osaka.

저녁으로 5000원 짜리 장어덮밥을 먹고 집가는길 빠칭코를 구경하면서 오사카에 하루를 마무리 하였다.

Next, we planned to move on from Osaka to Kyoto.
우리는 오사카에서 교토로 넘어가기로하였다.

Among all the cities in the Kansai region, I personally found Kyoto to be the most beautiful.
