Day 4
Jeju Island is largely divided into two administrative regions: Seogwipo City and Jeju City.
Today marks the final day of my trip, which I’m spending in Seogwipo and Jeju City.
I decided to visit Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, one of the most famous waterfalls on Jeju Island.
The entrance fee is only 2,000 KRW, but as you walk in, you’ll quickly realize that it’s worth much more than that.
Not only is the waterfall itself stunning, but the surrounding nature is beautifully preserved.
You’ll also be warmly greeted by adorable ducks and birds along the way.
서귀포시와 제주시이다.
오늘은 서귀포에서 마지막 여행이다.
제주도에서 유명한 폭포인 천지연 폭포를 가기로 하였다.
천지연 폭포의 입장료 2000원이다.
입장 걷다 보면 2000원 그 이상의 가치를 보여준다
천지 폭포는 폭포 또한 아름답지만 자연의 식생들이 잘 보존 되어있고 귀여운 오리들과 새들이 나를 반겨주기 문이다.
After visiting the waterfall, I walked to a nearby restaurant.
Although the weather was quite hot, it wasn’t too exhausting because the ocean stretched out before my eyes.
나는 폭포 관람후에 식당 까지 걸어갔다.
날씨가 꽤 더웠지만 눈 앞에 바다가 펼쳐져 있었기 때문에 많이 힘들진 않았다.
After arriving at the restaurant, I ordered a rice bowl made with black pork, one of Jeju’s local specialties.
The combination of vegetables and meat was perfect, offering a variety of textures and rich flavors.
식당 도착후 제주도 특산물 중 하나인 흑돼지를 이용한 덮밥을 주문하였다.
채소와 고기의 조합이 어울려 식감도 다양하고 맛있었다.
After lunch, I returned the scooter and took a bus to Jeju City.
As I looked out the window, the autumn-colored trees were absolutely beautiful.
While admiring the fall foliage of Hallasan Mountain, I eventually found myself arriving in Jeju City.
점심을 먹고난 후 스쿠터를 반납하고 버스를 이용하여 제주시로 출발하였다.
버스에서 창문 밖을 바라보니 단풍든 나무들이 너무 아름다웠다.
나는 단풍든 한라산을 바라보다 보니 어느새 제주시에 도착하였다.
After lunch, I returned the scooter and took a bus to Jeju City.
As I looked out the window, the autumn-colored trees were absolutely beautiful.
While admiring the fall foliage of Hallasan Mountain, I eventually found myself arriving in Jeju City.
After arriving in Jeju City, I went to my accommodation, unpacked my things, and headed to a nearby market.
There, I ordered yellowtail sashimi and raw sweet shrimp (딱새우) for takeout — all for just 20,000 won.
Compared to Seoul, where I live, the price was incredibly affordable.
Back at the accommodation, I tried the food.
The yellowtail sashimi was rich and savory with just the right amount of fattiness.
It was my first time trying raw sweet shrimp, and I was impressed by how fresh and firm the texture was.
Both were absolutely delicious.
난 제주시 도착후 숙소에가 짐을 풀고 근처 시장에가서 방어회랑 딱새우를 2만원에 포장주문했다.
내가 사는 서울에 비교하면 정말 가격이 저렴하였다.
숙소에 복귀한 후 먹어보는데 방어회는 기름기가 많아 정말 고소하였고 딱새우는 처음 먹어봤는데 식감이 살아있었다.
둘다 너무 맛있었다.
After eating, I decided to visit "Yongduam Rock," a stone near my accommodation said to resemble a dragon’s head.
먹고 난 후 숙소 근처에 용의 머리를 닮은 돌 "용두암" 이 있다하여 가보기로 하였다.
가는길 마을이 정말 아름다웠다.
This is a Dolhareubang.
Dolhareubang literally means “stone grandfather” in standard Korean.
This statue is a symbol of Jeju Island.
Jeju has many Dolhareubang in various shapes.
According to popular belief, touching the nose of a Dolhareubang will bring you a son.
이것은 돌하르방 이다.
돌 하르방은 표준어로 하면 돌 할아버지이다.
이 석상은 제주도의 상징이다.
제주도는 다양한 형태를 띤 돌하르방이 있다.
또한 속설로 돌하르방의 코를 만지면 아들을 낳는다고 한다.
I arrived at Yongduam Rock and spent some time blankly gazing at the sea and the airplanes passing through the sunset sky.
나는 용두암에 도착하여 멍하니 바다와 노을위를 지나가는 비행기를 바라보면서 시간을 보냈다.
I ended my trip to Jeju Island with a visit to Yongduam Rock.
Since it was my first time backpacking, there were some challenges, but those very hardships made the journey even more memorable.
Traveling alone gave me so much to reflect on.
First, I realized that there are many kind-hearted adults in the world.
Because I was traveling solo, many elderly people approached me first and offered their help.
For example, when I went fishing — as a beginner — I was clumsy and unsure of what to do.
But an experienced fisherman next to me kindly gave me some tools and even helped bait the hook for me.
Before leaving, he also handed me some tangerines.
There were many other people who showed me such warm kindness.
Second, Jeju Island truly has so much to see.
With its beautiful natural scenery, there are countless places to visit.
Next time I come, I plan to focus on exploring the Olle trails and hiking up Hallasan Mountain.
Lastly, I learned that sometimes, a solo journey is necessary.
I realized that in everyday life, we don’t really get much time to talk with ourselves.
Because of that, I hadn’t known myself very well.
But when you leave your daily routine and go on a trip alone like this, you gain a lot of time to reflect — and little by little, you begin to truly understand yourself.
나는 용두암을 끝으로 나의 제주도 여행을 마무리 하였다.
배낭여행을 처음해봐서 힘든것도 있었지만 힘든 만큼 기억에 많이 남았다.
나는 혼자 떠난 이번 여행에서 느낀것이 참 많았다.
첫번쨰로 세상에는 착한 어른들이 많다는 것이다.
내가 혼자 여행을 다니니 어르신들이 말을 먼저 붙혀주시고 도움을 주셨다.
내가 낚시를 할 떄였는데 낚시 초보라 서투니 옆에 계신 낚시 고수분이 도구도 주시고 미끼도 직접 끼워주셨다.
그리고 마지막으로 귤까지 주고 가셨다.
그외에도 정말 친절하신 분들이 많았다.
두번쨰로 제주도는 정말로 볼 것 이많다는것이다.
제주도의 자연경관이 좋아 갈 곳이 정말 많다.
나는 다음에 오면 올레길과 한라산을 중점적으로 볼 것이다.
세 번쨰는 혼자만의 여행도 가끔씩 필요하다는것이다.
생각해보면 자신과의 대화시간이 평소에는 많지 않다는 것을 나는 느꼇다.
그래서 나는 나를 잘 알지 못하였다
하지만 이렇게 일상을 떠나 혼자 여행을 떠나면 자신을 알 수 있는 시간이 정말로 많아 나 자신을 점점 알게된다.
